Christmas Fundraising Appeal

Please consider donating to support our work alongside families and individuals struggling with poverty.  ATD Ireland continue to work to support people whose lives are the toughest.  The Covid- 19 pandemic pushed many individuals and families further into poverty and isolation.

Families already struggling from hardship, poverty and socio-economic discrimination are dropping further and further behind and getting forgotten completely”.  – Community activist.

Family support, family visits and gatherings have been a way to combat this marginalization. The aim of this is to keep connected with the wider ATD community and to provide support to families or individuals in times of crisis.

When they go, they’re not coming with a course, they’re not coming expecting them to turn up at 4 o clock on Tuesday evening, they go to where the family is and they probably have a cup of tea. They are skilled listeners…”.

Recently we have begun going on visits to scenic and cultural areas.  This can help bring people away from their everyday routine and the monotonous daily stresses of living in poverty.

Events, workshops and gatherings are a necessity to make meaningful connections with people and to gain wisdom from those living in poverty.  We strive to create non- judgemental spaces where people can share their stories, learn from one another and become part of a community where they feel their experiences are understood.

“Built on the conviction that those most left behind are vital is the source of all energy and effort that ATD puts into putting them in contact with people with similar experiences. Many people feel alone and guilty for what they’re going through, and bringing them into contact with people from other walks of life, and among others, people who are in a position to change the way our societies work, is so important.”

In 2022, we also have a number of upcoming participative projects where those with an experience of poverty can share their voice, and influence public opinion and policy.

In order to support these projects, and reinforce our efforts to combat the worst effects of poverty, please consider donating on a one- time basis or setting up a regular donation.  Any amount given, big or small, will be greatly appreciated, and will make a difference to the life of a family. ♥
