#Addthe10th debate and vote in the Seanad

On Wednesday 21st May the Amendment to the Equality Legislation was discussed in the Seanad.  This included the addition of socio- economic status as ground of discrimination.  Unfortunately Seanad members voted to suspend the amendment for another 12 months.  It was not the result we wanted but hope not lost.  ATD Ireland were invited to view the Seanad debate, along with other members of the #Addthe10th alliance. Thank you to Senator Chris Andrews for inviting us to view the debate and vote.  Thank you to ATD Ireland Community Activists and the #addthe10th alliance for their continued, tireless work on the campaign to end…

My journey began as an intern and volunteer, where I quickly fell in love with the work and values of ATD. This experience inspired me to stay on longer term. Emma- Active Citizenship

The environment and community at ATD Ireland is unlike any I have experienced before. Coming from America for my study abroad and internship semester, I did not know what to expect. I was lucky enough to be placed with an organization that brings together so many people from all walks of life. It is inspiring to see people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds come together to work towards one common goal. No matter how different we may all be, we all share the same values and beliefs when it comes to humanity, and the treatment of people living in poverty.…

Anthiosse- Active Citizenship

My Internship Experience at ATD Ireland: A Space for Learning and Engagement For the past two months, I have had the opportunity to intern with All Together in Dignity (ATD) Ireland as a student. Although my time with the organisation has been relatively short, it has been a particularly rewarding experience, both academically and personally. This placement has given me a deeper understanding of the dynamics of social exclusion, the importance of involving people affected by poverty in the actions that impact them, and the role that everyone can play in building a fairer society.Upon arriving at ATD, I was immediately…

The importance of the ‘Leave No One Behind’ Series 4 project

ATD Ireland's Leave No One Behind project is a particularly significant initiative in the current context of growing social, economic and educational inequality across the world. The project is part of an overall framework to combat poverty and marginalisation, seeking to promote inclusivity, social justice and respect for the fundamental rights of every individual, regardless of their origin, status or geographical location. In my view, this project is of paramount importance for a number of reasons.First at all, the Leave No One Behind project is based on a fundamental principle: everyone deserves an equal opportunity to flourish in society. In many…
