Ireland will be given the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from July to December 2026. The ATD Ireland Community believes that the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union is an apt opportunity to
progress the new EU anti poverty strategy and ultimately work towards the eradication of poverty for people across the European Union.
Considering the closer we are getting to the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals, the first goal of “No Poverty” needs to be reached. The reachment of the Development Goal would signify an end to all forms of discrimination and and effective support for families. ATD calls for more shared community spaces and accessible poverty awareness training.
